Scienza delle Separazioni</strong> (GISS) è stato fondato nel 2002 e si può ritenere essere la naturale evoluzione del Gruppo di Cromatografia della Società Chimica Italiana, nato sul finire degli anni settanta per iniziativa del Prof. Arnaldo Liberti. Il GISS è costituito da Soci SCI che svolgono attività di ricerca o/e tecnico scientifica nel campo della Scienza delle Separazioni. Gli aderenti al GISS sono pertanto studiosi e/o utilizzatori di tecniche separative, principalmente cromatografia ed elettroforesi, e del loro abbinamento alla spettrometria di massa ed alle altre tecniche strumentali di riconoscimento e caratterizzazione molecolare, di fondamentale importanza in molteplici ambiti scientifici, sia in campo accademico sia produttivo.</p>\n<p>Il GISS promuove iniziative finalizzate a favorire momenti d’incontro e discussione tra i propri aderenti e la Comunità scientifica nazionale, con il fine di incoraggiare lo scambio di esperienze tecniche e scientifiche e stimolare le interazioni tra i Gruppi di ricerca, oltre ad offrire ai giovani impegnati nella Scienza delle Separazioni l’opportunità di presentare e discutere i risultati delle proprie ricerche e/o applicazioni tecnico-scientifiche in convegni e seminari organizzati a tale scopo.</p>\n<p>L‘iniziativa maggiormente consolidata nel tempo è l’organizzazione di brevi convegni, denominati “I<strong>ncontri di Scienza delle Separazioni</strong>”, organizzati per discutere lo stato dell’arte e le più recenti innovazioni delle tecniche separative, in risposta alle problematiche emergenti nei diversi settori della ricerca, della produzione industriale e delle attività di controllo analitico in cui queste sono applicate. &nbsp;Il programma scientifico degli “Incontri”, generalmente svolto nell’arco di due giorni, è costituito da brevi comunicazioni scientifiche dal podio, principalmente presentate da giovani ricercatori di Università, Enti pubblici e privati di ricerca o del settore produttivo, la cui partecipazione è favorita contenendo i costi di iscrizione e di soggiorno, oltre che dalla selezione di località facilmente raggiungibili e distribuite lungo il territorio nazionale.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Dal 2017 il GISS bandisce annualmente un concorso per l’assegnazione di una medaglia, intitolata&nbsp;<strong><em>\"Gruppo Interdivisionale di Scienza delle Separazioni – Premio Giovane Ricercatore\"</em></strong>, da assegnare ad un giovane ricercatore che abbia dimostrato particolare attitudine ed interesse per studi ed attività di ricerca nel campo della Scienza delle Separazioni.
