Dal 2026, entreranno in vigore in tutti gli Stati membri dell’Unione Europea nuove norme che rivoluzionano il diritto alla riparazione dei beni di consumo. Grazie alla direttiva right to repair e ai regolamenti collegati, riparare elettrodomestici e dispositivi come lavatrici, aspirapolvere o smartphone diventerà l’opzione più facile e conveniente rispetto alla sostituzione, con prezzi “ragionevoli” anche per le riparazioni fuori garanzia.

I produttori saranno obbligati a offrire riparazione anche fuori garanzia UE per i prodotti tecnicamente riparabili e dovranno garantire ricambi obbligatori per elettrodomestici e dispositivi tecnologici per un periodo minimo, oltre a informazioni chiare sulle condizioni di riparazione.

 

Nasce inoltre un indice di riparabilità obbligatorio (o sistema di repairability score) per alcuni prodotti, in particolare smartphone e tablet, che comparirà sulle etichette. Questo informerà il consumatore su quanto è facile e conveniente riparare quel bene prima di acquistarlo.

Una novità importante della normativa è che, se scegli di riparare un prodotto in garanzia anziché sostituirlo, la garanzia verrà estesa di 12 mesi, incentivando così una scelta più sostenibile. Entro il 2027 sarà inoltre operativa una piattaforma online europea che aiuterà i cittadini a trovare riparatori indipendenti e repair cafés nella propria zona.

Il fine ultimo di questa innovazione è evidente: ridurre la produzione di rifiuti affiancando riuso e recupero nel compito di allungare la vita dei prodotti commerciali. Sembra sempre più messo in discussione il principio che recuperare le componenti di maggiore valore da un oggetto dismesso sia la forma più conveniente di economia circolare.
